Description:

This is a Kandinsky inspired mail art swap that will continue for several months. You can sign up for just one swap, or for all of them, depending how large you want your final piece to be.

  • You will make one 4" x 6" postcard, that is divided into six 2 inch sections.
  • You will then color circles in each 2 inch square, inspired by the work of Kandinsky Squares with Concentric Circles.
  • Each postcard will have 6 sections with concentric circles.
  • We will mail one postcard to one partner each month. At the end of the series, you will have several that you can frame together to make one big collaboration project.
  • You can make these separately each month, or you can do them all at one time, and save them for each month's swap.
  • Your postcards must be 4 x 6, but can be made with any medium. Feel free to paint, collage, sew, etc. Please mail these naked (not in an envelope).
  • Send ON TIME. This is one of the swap requirements and your partner may rate you a 3 if you send late.
  • Rate promptly and accurately.
  • Communicate with your partner and the host (me, @TC ) if there are problems.

YES!!!! I am so excited to do this! I missed the first one and have been waiting anxiously for this one. Yay!!!!!

I had a lot of fun making the cards for these swaps.

Me, too! I'm exploring some different mediums that I'd never tried before. :)

My card once again looks super amateurish, like a kid did it. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. But my first partner liked my first card/attempt, so I guess (hope) this second attempt will do, too.

I think it's okay to have a really organic look. Look carefully at Kandinsky's piece (pictured above).

NOTE - I'll be taking a short SB break July 4 - 20. The next swap in this series will be offered in late July.

@reader44ever Don't sweat it. I wasn't sure mine would look okay, but my partner liked mine too.

Thanks, @smadronia That's encouraging. :-)

How many rounds will there be altogether?

TC 06/30/2016 #

@DaisyNY , I'm not sure yet. Right now I'm thinking 8 or 9 rounds, if there's interest to keep going that long.
