Description:

In my last swap Going Postal - Mail Art Outside The Box

I talked about a new book that I just got. Good Mail Day, it's all about the adventures of creating and shipping mail art, i'm fascinated so I have to share this book with you all.

The second excerpt from the book says: Mail art can happen anywhere, at any time, and in any place. The important thing is to make it happen, and the easiest way to do that is to be prepared for any inspiration that might rear it's head.

I love my supplies so much that sometimes it's impossible to choose which bits and pieces to take along on a trip, so to curb the desire to pack up my house and shove it in my car, my goal is to make a small portable art kit for 1 partner. I am offering you the opportunity to do the same.

Choose a container

It must be in very good to brand new condition. Handmade is acceptable so long as the material is clean and durable. (exa - a zipper pouch, a plastic school box, a drawstring bag, an empty first aid kit, a metal cookie tin)

Choose an adhesive Exa - a new glue stick, tape roll, glue dots, glue pen

Next write an inspirational message that prompts your partner to make art daily

Then fill the container with things that your partner can access on the go to create art. (senders choice of 5 items)

Some examples

  • a fun permanent pen or marker for writing addresses
  • a cute pencil for shading and lettering
  • labels, post its or small paper pieces to doodle on
  • postage stamps for spontaneous mailing
  • some blank postcard size card stock
  • generous washi / deco samples
  • stickers

Please strive to create a well rounded kit for your partner, take some time and think about what you would want to receive in this kit and add a little extra to send your partner something nice.

Feel free to pull like new items from your stash

You must have at least a 4.9800 to participate and no unresolved 1's or 3's. I will check all profiles and eliminate questionable participants. Please read the rules and commit before joining. Please no flakes or poor swappers. To keep cost low is a US swap only.

Just to give you all some ideas, I was at The Dollar Tree today and I found some small decorative boxes with magnetic closures, some filing pockets and some Velcro strapped lunch pockets. All of these would make great containers : )
