Description:

I ran this swap a couple months ago, and it was so much fun! I've heard from several swappers who would like a USA-version this time, so here goes!

Open to newbies, if you have a well thought out and complete profile. A good rule of thumb, when I open your profile page, I should have to scroll down to read it.

There have been pocket letter alphabet swaps, where each letter has its own page. For this swap, we are going to get through the alphabet a little quicker.

Instead of one letter per page, we are going to shrink it, to one letter per pocket!

This swap will be run THREE times, and I hope you will join us all the way through! We start with A -I.

DETAILS: Make sure that the letter shows up easily in the front of the pocket! * You will have ONE-partnerรขโ‚ฌยจ * For the first round, you will take ONE 9-pocket sleeve, and starting at the top left, reading across, left to right...Fill the first pocket with anything that a paper crafter might enjoy, that starts with the letter "A". Fill the next pocket the same way, this time using the letter "B" and so on. รขโ‚ฌยจ

IMPORTANT: When we get to the letter of your first name or swapping name, please write a nice little note about yourself in that space!

There are nine pockets, each representing a letter. So for this round, you will come up with ideas that represent each of the first nine letters, like stickers, origami papers, decorated paper, envies, etc.

Here's some examples: (these are just ideas, please feel free to come up with your own ideas) - and mostly, these refer to pictures or drawings of these things. I don't want anyone trying to stuff a giraffe into one of these little pockets!

A - architecture, Angels, ants at a picnic, aardvarks or antelopes, automobiles, anchors, etc.

B - birds, bees, buttons, beads, border designs, B/W pics, balloons, baskets, bridges, bird feeders, blue anything, etc.

C- carrots, construction zones, cats, chocolate, candles, clip art, cards, clips, colored staples, clocks, cheetahs, cheeky phrases, etc.

D- Dandelions, door knockers, drawings, deserts, decorating, diamondsรฐลธหœโ‚ฌ, dimes, desserts, etc.

E- envie patterns, embroidery, eagles, envelopes, EXIT signs, elephants, eggs, etc.

F- fine-tipped pens, FB's, fish, flowers, flutes, free-style, fine laces, and edgings, fabrics, etc.

G- guitar, giraffes, gingerbread cookies, gables on roofs, green anything, etc.

H- hand-made, hearts, hockey, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc.

I- inchies, ice sculptures, ink pads, iguanas,

I want to do this swap, but I'm not sure what a pocket is?

Kraftylady777 03/28/2016 #

I need more information too. What is the "background " of the pocket? Do the goodies go in front or in back of the pocket ? I've seen Pocket Letters done different ways with some people making them like detailed ATCs

Pocket letter swaps use the plastic 3-hole punched, "sleeve" sheets, (used often for baseball collections, etc). They are available at walmarts, etc, usually come "10 to a pack".

The background refers to the back of the page, (if you looked at it from behind) -some people decorate this part of the page, as well.

The goodies goe inside the pocket, and need to be small enough to fit. Yes, the size of each pocket will hold an ATC perfectly, and yes, you can create alphabet ATCs, for each letter, but do also add more things, that your partner can then use in THEIR crafting projects, like yarn, fun clips, pretty papers, etc.

I hope that helps....thank you for the great questions!

Will we have a different partner for each pocket letter? Thank you Nancy

Depending on how many sign up,...and if the same people are in each swap, it is POSSIBLES that you could end up with the same person.

In past swaps, I have gotten the same person in the swaps 1 ans 3, or 2 and 3,,,we never know...hope that's okay with you.

gramsbuttonbox 04/17/2016 #

That is why the dates are the same for all three...swappers CAN sign up for all three parts

KreativeKrafter 04/26/2016 #

I have a question do we decorate the front pocket with the letters and put the items in the back of the pockets or put the items in the front with the letters for decoration as well?

gramsbuttonbox 04/27/2016 #

Hi, thanks for writing...this swap is open to newbies, so there are not a lot of "rules".

You can decorate, and fill each pocket as you choose. The letter of the alphabet must clearly be seen in the FRONT of the pocket.

And when you get to the letter of your name or swap ID, you are to write a little note about yourself.

Hope that helps.

Will there also be an international one?

kellogg 05/22/2016 #

I really want to try this because I haven't done them before but if I did all three I feel like I'd be frantic as they all run together. I would feel better if they ran after another.

gramsbuttonbox 05/23/2016 #

Thank you Kellogg...I've received various comments along the same line, and am changing the dates...I hope it helps

gramsbuttonbox 05/23/2016 #

Mamavan, that is a strong possibility, in a couple weeks....I hope you will be able to join us

shinyserra 05/25/2016 #

Hi. I am new to this site so I was wondering when we get our address of our swap partner. Is it after the signup date closes?

sherig47 05/26/2016 #

If your name your nsme or swap bot name isn't A -I then you don't need to write a letter.

gramsbuttonbox 05/27/2016 #

Welcome to swapping, the partners are randomly assigned the day after the signup deadline.

shinyserra 05/27/2016 #

ok thanks :)

Mamavan 05/28/2016 #
