Description:

We can all agree that the world needs more love, and what better way to spread it than to use colorful washi tape to brighten the world on the swap envelopes we send out. Hey, we've got to do our part, right? :)

General swap details:

  • 3 partners
  • Each partner gets 8-10 different washi samples
  • Minimum tape length for each sample is 18 inches (45.72 centimeters). I do roughly 9 wraps around a standard playing card.
  • Mailing tip: your washi samples cards will stay flat if you tape them side by side.

Tape details:

  • No solid colors
  • No glitter, duct, or fabric tape
  • No deco tape (the kind you need to cut with scissors)
  • No "dollar store-type" tape. These tend to be like paper stickers and have a definitive white edge when ripped. Here's a little experiment: Unwrap a little of your dollar store tape and then unwrap a little of real washi tape. You can honestly hear a difference in how they sound - the washi tape will have almost no sound at all, while dollar store tape is "noisy."

Other details:

  • Include a note with your name, swap ID, and a list of some of your favorite ways to use Washi tape.
  • Your mailing envelopes must be decorated with washi tape - use several strips on the front of the envelope (the more the merrier); after all, our goal is to spread love to the world!

Minimum joining requirements: No 1 or 3 ratings in the past 12 months. You must have 20 completed type 2 or 3 swaps.

I am really confused about how to tell if you have cheap Washi tape. I don't have any dollar store tape, but I tried unwrapping and tearing some October Afternoon brand Washi and compared it with some Washi I got at Target and the October Afternoon seems louder and flimsier and it's definitely not cheap. :-/

Most Target tapes (usually Scotch brand) are fine and October Afternoon tapes are fine too. @BridgeyC I'm sure your tapes are fine for this swap.

I am new to Seap-boy and have only completed 9 swaps, 3 are in my dashboard now (not at deadline yet!) I have to much washi to send! I would love to join! washi swaps are not very often on here! especially for newbies!
