The main reason I joined Swap-Bot was to find pen pals, then I got distracted by all the other cool swaps out there! But still, by far, my favorite mail is a letter, both to send and receive. Over the years, pen pals come and go, and sadly a lot of mine have gone. So I'm on the hunt to build up my pal collection again. For this swap you will send an introduction letter to your partner. Make it interesting, long enough to make it worth sending, and creative enough to inspire a reply. Hand written is preferred but not required. I don't want to set a page requirement, or intended topics to cover. Maybe think of it as an essay you'd send with a job application if that helps. You know the type of letters you enjoy reading, so send one like that. Once you have finished selling yourself as a pen friend, put your letter in an envelope and decorate it up. Use anything you want to make it fun to receive... Collage, rubber stamps, spray ink, washi tape, stickers, etc. If your envelope is pretty wild, you may need to add an address label so the mail people can tell where to send it. If you want to add anything flat inside, that is up to you, but it is not a swap requirement. Personally, I'm mostly interested in getting to know you, not adding more stuff to my stash. But, again, send what you'd like to receive. Be sure you send it on time, affix sufficient postage, and rate promptly upon receipt. So, here are the highlights:
Now, it is up to you if you wish to reply or continue correspondence, but hopefully we will all make a couple of new friends. |
