Description:

We all know what kind of can Pringles come in! The long cylinder type!

In this swap we will take a PRINGLES can- not STAX due to space- and decorate the can! Please make sure ou check your partners profile or comments section so you know how to decorate it.Please mae sure you rinse the can out first. You can take a damp baby wipe or a wash cloth and rinse it out. Decorate the entire can! If you think you can send a can with a couple stickers on it, don\'t join. This is for NICELY decorated cans. You should not be able to see the can at all. Then you will fill the can with items like scrapbook paper, ribbon, emphera, address labels made FOR your partner, stickers, etc. You should fill it pretty full! This can be items you have at home but PLEASE PLEASE make sure the items are nice and unused. No one likes getting nasty used items! You can either send it in a box or mail it as is! Like some have said, we could add bulkier embellishments if sent in a box! It is up to you!

RULES-

USA only because I am not sure how customs would work on this. Feel free to start an international one!

Feedback is 4.5 or above! Newbies welcome but please message me and give me a reference- maybe your ebay name, a past swap on here that just isnt rated yet.

Can must be FULLY decorated! I will read in your profiles and if you have any feedback along the lines of not decorated enough, did not follow directions or if I myself have swapped with you and feel what I recieved was unsatisfactory, then I will remove you from this swap. I do not like recieving items that are not up to par when I work my butt off on things I send out and I know others don\'t want to recieve them either.

Items within the cans CAN be used but must be nice. Total price would be around $10-$15 total. Shipping is usually around $2-3!

This sounds like so much fun, but would a decorated Pringles can survive the post office? Have you tried this before and they arrive okay? I've gotten some pretty beat up mail. I'd hate to spend all that time making the can look great then have it squished or scraped up in the mail. I think all the decorations would have to be flat, nothing 3-D like buttons, what do you think?

Another thought, and this is just a suggestion . . . aren't the Pringles cans really greasy inside? I would think even if they were rinsed out, the residue would sink into the scrap-booking paper. Maybe it would add to the "art" of using the paper, lol, but I'm thinking things like paper might fair better if they're sealed in a ziploc bag before putting them into the Pringle's can.

I think I'm going to come back and sign up for this one once I decide I can brave the mail. Pringle's cans make great colored pencil or paintbrush holders! So do metal coffee cans, has their been a swap for those?

ElizabethObviously 02/ 5/2007 #

lol i have done this twice before on yahoo group swaps. They survive VERY well through the mail! As for the grease, if you put a little dish soap, like dawn or something it works really well!

I still have the 2 cans from the swap! I may try to take a picture of them but i am not all that great at posting pictures!

the decoration might have to be flat on the outside of the can yea. What we did in the swap before was pretty much flat paper decorated.

As for the items inside the can, smaller stuff isnice to put in baggies. but the paper and stuff i recieved in the previous swaps came through just fine! No grease spots or anything

LOL I was just sitting her eating some of the pringles in the little half size can thinking how cute that would be to alter :)

I'm sure if you shipped them in a small box there wouldn't be much if any damage to the can or the decorations on it?? They would make great color pencil/crayon/sharpie holders!

LuldaCasadaga55 02/ 5/2007 #

When taping the box top would the paint or paper come off the box when the person opens it? How do you assure that your precious artwork wasn't destroyed by receiver trying to pry off the tape! :D

ElizabethObviously 02/ 5/2007 #

there we go! I edited so that you can send it in a box if you wish! But yeah I KNOW the can hold up very well because I have recieved and sent out 2 myself! As for the tape on the lid, if you decorate INSIDE the lid then taping it is no problem! Oh I wish i knew how to post pictures so you guys could see the ones I have!

jewels1 02/ 5/2007 #

Okay, I'm in, this sounds like too much fun. Now I must go forth and eat Pringles! (Fairykiss, you are right, the half size cans would be cute too!)

ElizabethObviously 02/ 6/2007 #

oh they would be cute!!! I never thought of those for some reason!!!

brokeneyeball 02/18/2007 #

and we make two, right? one for each of our two parterns. this sounds really fun! and we have plenty of time to find neat stuff to fill it with! :D

ElizabethObviously 02/18/2007 #

yup one can filled for each partner! i dont like pringles myself but i buy the original because they have any kind of weird smell!

brokeneyeball 02/19/2007 #

another neat swap someone could arrange.. would be a half size pringles can.. decorated.. and to be filled with stuff..around a theme.. like.... all one color.. or things that start with a certain letter.. or something fun along those lines.

this is fun! :D

ElizabethObviously 02/20/2007 #

that would be kinda fun

Susi 02/23/2007 #

I eat pringles (with my 4 doggies at night while watching movies!) all the time...But sending out 2 whole size cans is a bit much for me right now. When and if there will be another swap using the half size cans, I'll be more up to it. Not that I don't like the idea, don't get me wrong, it's just that postage costs are killing me with all the pkgs I am sending.. and I am addicticted to swapping! So maybe next time. sorry =+( susi

ElizabethObviously 03/ 1/2007 #

its fine! the cans actually dont cost that much to send but i know how it is...this site breaks me! And yah i will be making another swap using the half cans

chesterbarb50 03/12/2007 #

If the pringles cans are sent as is (not in a box) does anyone know the best way to secure the lid so that when it is opened it does not tear off half the decorated area? (By the way- did you know that mailing items like that, without packaging, is called naked mail?) Thanks for any suggestions.

user6787 03/12/2007 #

When I use mailing tubes I always put double sided sticky tape or bead tape on the inner ring. I don't know how that would work with these kind of lids?

I will be shipping mine in another form of packaging, I think I went a bit embellishment happy. They should be in the mail tomorrow as well as pictures on my blog.

Hope you like them :)

blog is: swap-fairy.blogspot.com if anyone is interested in seeing what sort of things I have been upto in the swap world :)

brokeneyeball 03/18/2007 #

would anyone like to leave suggestions or preferences so we can know what you like and have more ideas for what to fill the can with..? maybe leave a comment, or update your profile more?

i like paper, art, handmade things, patterened things, cloth, ribbon..lace, atcs, tea, textured paper..

user6787 03/19/2007 #

I like the whole element of surprise of this swap so anything would be good. However, I do have a soft spot for anything handmade, cupcake goodies, and anything overly sickening sweet cute :) I'm sure that anything sent would be enjoyed!

chesterbarb50 03/19/2007 #

Amanda- I received the fun pringles can on Friday- my computer as been on the fritz since then so this is the first opportunity I have had to tell you it got here. It was so much fun seeing all the interesting things you put in the can. They should be fun to use- especially in my card making and altered books. Thanks!

Iowascrapemouse 04/ 1/2007 #

Sharon H. and Amanda W., your cans are being posted Monday. They are in boxes, so don't get freaked out by the size. Hope you enjoy them, sorry no food in them, but lots of "stuff".

chesterbarb50 04/ 5/2007 #

Carol and Kimberly, your cans went out today. They are in boxes as I did not want the decorations to be ruined by the USPS. Kimberly, yours should get there pretty quickly as we are both in NH. Hope you like them!

ElizabethObviously 04/ 9/2007 #

it seems we might need a couple swap angels for this swap....if anyone would like to do this please contact me!

Iowascrapemouse 04/10/2007 #

brokeneyeball 04/11/2007 #

brokeneyeball 04/11/2007 #

well, today.

Iowascrapemouse 04/11/2007 #

Tammy, received your breath of spring today, very appropriate, it is snowing and blowing. It really looks strange seeing the green grass poking thru the snow!!! Thanks again.

user6787 04/17/2007 #

My second partner was a flake. The upside is the one I did get was great.

chesterbarb50 04/18/2007 #

Elizabeth- the can came today- it was great. Thanks for all the stuff I can use in my scrapping and card making. And I love the can. Barbara
