Description:

Lately I have been doing a lot of art journals. I am now working on learning different embroidery stitches. I thought how wonderful it would be to combine my two passions.

For these swaps you will make 6" x6 " fabric pages. Each swap will have a embroidery fabric page prompt with a featured stitch.

My goal is to host at least ten of these so that we can all have enough to make a mini journal. I have only done a little bit of embroidery so I want fellow swappers with any skill level to join.

Round #1 swap: The featured stitch will be the satin stitch. This stitch is a filling stitch consisting of entirely of straight stitches. It takes practice to make the surface smooth and the edges even. Once mastered it will be an invaluable to the embroiderer.
The prompt: Stamp your fabric and then fill in the design. Fill in a little or a lot. Add embellishments, or color in some areas. Be creative.

With these swap please feel free to use any other stitches but a part of the page must have the featured stitch. Make sure you sign work.

Is the 6x6 measurement in inches?

Julybaby59 03/19/2015 #

Yes in inches....sorry I tend to forget.

Should we use cotton or linen? Or does it matter?

Julybaby59 03/26/2015 #

It doesn't matter what fabric you use.

So we just send the fabric with stitching...what should we do about the edges?

Julybaby59 04/13/2015 #

I put a little stitch around my piece so it doesn't fray.

Just so everyone knows, FYI, due to a very personal circumstance, I was in a shelter with my 3 young children, the clothes we could fit winna backpack, and VERY limited Internet. I apologize for the lateness, but it couldn't be helped. My swamps will be out by next week. Also, the swap I received was in an open and empty envelope :(
