Description:

Welcome to 'I ♥heart♥ Mail Art - February! Who doesn't love to receive a lovely decorated envie in their mailbox? This swap is for all those who love to display their art on the outside of envelopes for the world to see and enjoy!

So get crazy with your inks, paints, markers, pens, pencils, charcoal, stickers, glitter, glue, fabric, washi tape, & imagination! Decorate that envelope with your heart and soul!

The Nitty Gritty:

Each swap participant is to decorate one envelope for one partner.

Please put your best effort into this --- send something you would LOVE LOVE LOVE to receive!

It's always nice to check out your partner's profile for ideas on likes/dislikes – but it is sender's choice so it is not mandatory.

Minimum envelope size is standard A6 (105mm x 148mm) (4.13 inches x 5.83 inches) anything larger is even better!

Here is a link that gives you the dimensions of all standard international envelope sizes:

EnvelopeSizes

Please include a note inside the envie indicating the swap name, and your swap user ID.

To make this swap extra-special, include a small goodie tucked inside the envie ....maybe a postcard, some stationary, your favorite poem or recipe....anything you think your partner will enjoy. You can also check out your partner's profile for a small special item you know they will love --- it's entirely up to the sender.

You will have two weeks to create and send your mail art envie.

The key is to be creative.....let your imagination fly & your inner artist shine! Get those creative juices flowing!

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be rated a 4.95 or better Open to newbies (unrated swappers) --- this is your opportunity to get some great ratings! (and beautiful artwork!) No 1s or recent / unexplained 3s

I am truly hopeful everyone who joins will honour their swap and not flake on their partner. However, I will angel any and all flakers, once you have rated them a 1 .

If you have any questions, please PM me.

HAPPY SWAPPING!!!!

Hello Justene, being a big fan of mail art I would love to join this swap. Just a small question about the envelope, what is 5x7 format? Does the envelope A5 meet the swap requirements or not?

Justene 01/29/2015 #

Hi @Frenchberry - I've updated the swap to indicate that the minimum envelope size is A6 (105mm x 148mm). So the A5 that you mentioned is perfectly fine, as it is larger! (148mm x 210mm). I also added a link to the swap to a handy little site that gives you all the dimensions of standard envelope sizes around the world! Hope you join my swap! :)

Frenchberry 01/29/2015 #

To @Justene thank you for this update-it's more clear for me because I'm not familiar with American sizes) so I will use an A5 one, can't wait to start;)

@Frenchberry YAY! So happy you've joined! :)

The mail art I saw on your Pinterest board was so beautiful, is this swap also for people who just like to create nice envelopes? I use printed paper, washi tape, stickers, stamps etc but I don't really draw or paint but I guess I could give it a try?

Justene 02/ 5/2015 #

@poftoffel Yes! This swap is for everyone and anyone who likes to decorate and send pretty envelopes! I encourage you to use whatever pleases you - beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder!

For those who would like some inspiration on drawing, or those who say they don´t draw or think they cannot draw... Just check out "usborne doodling books". Google it, find pictures on pinterest or even better, buy a book from the series for yourself. They might be for children, but who said you cannot own one yourself? It is great for practicing doodling. I just got one of the books on sale and it is full of inspiration!

@ saintnick84 in order to swap with us, you need to fill out your profile page, things you like to do & things your daughter likes, crafts you do, books you read, music, movies, things you don't want to receive, etc.

Lorivintage55 02/16/2015 #

@saintnick84 children are not allowed on swap-bot from what I have heard. You have to be 18 or over.

@owlsinathens to be in a swap, you have to click on the "join" button.

Violethare 02/17/2015 #

Can I ask a question for clarification, you say to include out swap # ID--what /where do we find that??

Violethare 02/17/2015 #

Please excuse my above question -- not sure where I thought I saw to include your user #, it just says user ID--I must have been really tired when re-reading the directions.

Justene 02/17/2015 #

@violethare Your Swap-Bot user id is Violethare. It's just a way for the recipient to know who the swap came from so that they can rate and comment and thank the person. :)
