Description:

hello there foodies!

Do you like Instant food? lazy to get up and cook when you can simply pour a cup of hot water or chuck it in the microwave and hey! presto! gourmet meal to go! do you crave foods such as instant mac and cheese? or instant thai green curry? how about curry chicken cup noodles?

well.. this is the swap for you! for instant food lovers all over! :D and for people who want to try foodstuff from other places but are on a budget.

all you need to do is send 1 type of instant food to 2 people.

what sort of food is considered an instant food? - food items that already have all the ingredients needed. - food items that have less than 3 or 4 preparatory steps before being able to consume it. (like instant mac and cheese!) - food items that will only require hot water or milk to be poured into. such as cup noodles or instant soup. (also known as pot noodles or bowl noodles, 2 min noodles, cup-a-soup .etc.) - food items like porridge or noodles that need to be boiled with water. - and of course, food items that are instant! no fuss, no mess and definitely no long cooking time! so you can have your food and eat it! Instantly!

if you are unsure, see here for examples: http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=instant+food&m=text

look through your partners' profiles to see what kinds of food they like. please DO NOT send perishables and frozen items! also try not to send instant food items that are easily available in the market unless your partner stays in a different country as yours. If the Instructions are in a another language other than english, please translate them. if you are sending things like a cup-a-soup sachet, use your better judgement and send a box of 3 instead of just one.

As with all swaps that require food to be sent, PLEASE TAKE PRECAUTIONS! be very sure that the food is in proper sealed conditions and that the Expiry date isn't due.

There is no price limit so if you want to send more than 1 item, please do! (that would definitely warrant a heart!)

*please state any preferences, allergies, spicy/non-spicy, type of food you want or don't want to get to avoid dissapointment.

This swap is International. NO recent no-sends. Newbies are more than welcomed as long as you have a fully filled profile! (we've all got to start somewhere) and a rating of 4.5 and above for everyone else. if your rating is lower than 4.5 and you've got a valid reason and would like to join, please leave me a msg. please send a msg to your partner if you are unable to send the swap in time.

please REMEMBER to rate your partners fairly

*IMPORTANT NOTE: Chaitee has mentioned that pre-packaged food, such as noodles, soups .etc. which includes any type of MEAT will get confiscated at customs if sending or recieving from Australia. This may be true for other countries as well. so PLEASE CHECK if your partner's country's customs allow the type of food you want to send. or email them if you are unsure.

let's have some love in our tummies! :3

EDIT

here is a list of prohibited foodstuff to the different countries of those who have joined the swap. i'll update the list if more people from other countries join the swap! be sure to check back for your partner's countries. :) happy swapping!

I wasn't aware they made curry chicken cupnoodles... mmmm

marlz 07/28/2008 #

yep! there's curry chicken, tom yum, seafood and lots of other types! i love me some instant noodles! :)

chaitee 07/31/2008 #

i just thought that i'd mention; i was reading through an australian customs brochure this morning and it said that pre-packaged food, such as noodles, soups etc whose ingredients included any type of MEAT (you know how some have dried meat?) gets confiscated at customs. so basically, if anyone is sending to, or from australia - you may want to double check what can and can't be sent, because that one quite surprised me!

marlz 08/ 1/2008 #

ooh! i didn't know that! thanks for letting us know! :)

So if you can't said anything that is hermetically sealed (so air can't get in and out) then what are the other options? I've been doing some digging and everything instant seems to have an airtight seal. I'd love to get some feedback from the group.

dabble 09/ 4/2008 #

I'm just rereading this. Does the info above about the UAE mean that hermetically sealed things are prohibited? After rereading and seeing the the US requires them to be sealed, I thought maybe I misunderstood. Thanks!

marlz 09/ 4/2008 #

ah! so sorry i havn't seen your comment. i'm pretty sure that by hermetically sealed, it refers to foodstuff (for example, ham and smoked salmon) that are vacuum packed. other hermetically sealed items include canned items.

but if you are afraid your package might get confiscated, try sending instant food that come in boxes. such as instant mac and cheese where the pasta is contained in the box itself.

i hope this helps!
