Description:

Choose a background page of heavier paper such as a thick magazine page, calendar page, or the like. Create a junk journal page for your partner including at least 10 of the items listed below. Other items may also be included.

Pages should measure approx 6x9. Do not punch holes in them as when they are received your partner can do this to ensure the page fits into their journal. Binders that accommodate 6x9 pages are commonly used for recipe books, gardening books, ledger papers, daily journals, etc and can often be found at thrift shops for cheap, cheap, cheap. They make awesome covers for these junk journals and are easy to add pages to as well.

I found a binder that was given away by Woodwards in bygone years to house the recipes they gave away in store each week. It is even full of recipes! :)

The List:

A piece of a page from a book in a foreign language

A picture cut out from a magazine or book

A small pocket or envelope

Something metallic or metal

Some sewing

A doodle

Something red

A game piece (monopoly money, Yahtzee scorecard, bingo card, etc)

Something from a piece of junk mail

A piece of pattern from a security envelope

A quote

Paint

A sticker

Some fiber or ribbon

A letter of the alphabet

A rubber stamped image

A flower

A circle

Something that starts with an A (may be an actual word or an image)

Postal ephemera (airmail sticker, postage stamp, postmark, piece of envelope, etc)

Each element must be represented separately although one component may contain more than one element. For instance, the pocket may have an image, doodle, or other element ON it, but a pocket made from a magazine image only counts as either a pocket OR a magazine image.

My plan is to have several swaps of this nature to "build a junk journal" with. Each participant may build their journal however they wish keeping in mind that each swap will be for a page that measures 6x9.

Have fun!

Edited to clarify: please decorate both sides of the page, but the front should be "more" than the back. This page is to be a completed page, not one that your partner needs to finish. Also, if you fold a page, make sure it measures 6x9 when folded. A small folded piece on the side for example is ok, such as a foldout, but do not fold the page in half.

This sounds interesting, but I have a couple questions. :)

Is this a 6x9 piece of heavier paper without any folds? And do we work on both sides of the paper? And is it a finished page or are we making something like a background page for the recipient to work on?

Thanks! :)
