Description:

Postage keeps increasing, so I am going to repeat this set of swaps in which we will swap pages for a junk journal. There will be at least five swaps. Each swap will ask for five items. At the end, we can each build our own junk journals or do whatever we'd like with the pages we've received.

For swap #1:

  • Send five different folded pages. The pages should be between 4" x 6" and 6" X 9" after being folded. We are sending folded pages so that your partner can either sew the book together in the fold or cut the pages apart and use rings, etc., to bind the book. The pages do not have to be the same size, and could even be five different sizes. Size is up to the sender.

  • The pages should be undecorated. We'll leave the decorating to your partner.

  • Each page should have lines, grids, or a pattern. Each of the five must be a different paper. Papers can be varied weights. Pages can be vintage or new. The only type of paper you can't use is scrapbook paper.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact me.

Swap requirements: You'll need to have a rating of 4.90 or better and a well filled-out profile. Newbies are welcome with a completed profile. No recent or unexplained 1s or 3s. No flakers.

last night i pulled out all of the stuff from round 1 of this swap series... OMG i have so much... i am thinking the best way to bind the book...should i hand sew / bind it.... or should i go to office depot or such and have them spiral bind it? any suggestions? also... just curious what is a good amount of papers / pages to have in my journal....... thanks....

@pinkjoelle the papers that i sent were : from a music sheet notebook, from an accounting book, grid sheets, calendar sheets...

@pinkjoelle - There are papers all over the place that fit - ledge paper, paper from composition books, stationery sheets, music score pages, some junk mail graph paper, etc. The whole idea is to build a junk journal from items that might normally have been thrown away.

@wingy - I got so much fun stuff from Round 1, too. I usually hand bind mine with 10-15 folds (so 20-30 pages). But, the spiral bind is fun, too! You could also use book rings. There are lots of good choices. For this one, I am going to use a running stitch and sew along the folds. For the next one, who knows??
