Mid-Year Goals Reassessment

We all made goals for 2014 whether we shared them with others or not. As the mid-point of the year approaches, take a look at your goals. Make an honest assessment of what you've done and then reassess and re-evaluate your goals.

What is still on the table? Where have you succeeded or exceeded your goals? How did you reward yourself for your success? What is no longer relevant or has been overcome by events? What life happened that made the goals you set in December 2013 or January 2014 no longer a priority to your writing or creative life?

Now is the time to reset.

Remember, goals should be SMART. That stands for specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely.

This swap is being posted on Sunday, May 18. You'll have the rest of this month and the start of June to work on your goals -- for those still on track -- or to figure out what you want to spend July-December working on. You'll need to reassess what has happened from January-June and look toward what your plan is for July-December.

So, what are you sending your two partners? A letter or list that contains the following components:

• What your original plan was and how you did with it

• What your new goals are

• How you plan to reward yourself for succeeding with your reassessed goals. (Rewards can be time, project or progress related.)
