The cool thing about mail-art is you can do whatever you want. Many folks make cards or small artworks and send them inside hand decorated envelopes. Some people make there own stamps or stickers or use rubber stamps in a creative way. Hand drawn, painted and collage postcards are often seen. Mail-art is a very public form of art where the postal workers get to enjoy your work as well as the recipient. So please feel free to create whatever you want. I know it can be a little intimidating when there are few rules or conventions, but the real fun in mail-art is in the process of creation. This is REALLY coloring outside the lines.

Are we free to choose envelope or postcard as the canvas?

wackystuff 07/ 3/2008 #

I define Mail-art as ANYTHING that will go through the postal system.

musicisbliss13 07/ 5/2008 #

so...ANYTHING,ANYTHING at all that the post office will send?

Just remember that ART is big part of mail-art. Ask yourself, is the creation I am mailing out interesting enough for my partner to hang on their studio wall (or refrigerator door)?

Fun, fun, fun! If my swap partners happen to see this comment, I'd ask that you keep my mail art clean pretty please. I don't have anything against erotica, but I do have two nosy preschoolers!

I have asked one of our players to fill out her profile. This will delay the assignment of partners a little bit.

I'm jazzed to see so many enthusiastic folks who want to make mail-art!

i've got some great ideas just waiting to explode onto the canvas....... if only it would stop raining so i can get out and make a start ( i like to do all my messy stuff out side)

Crud I missed this one! Hopefully there will be a repeat? :) Pretty please!

wackystuff 07/11/2008 #

wackystuff 07/22/2008 #

We have a week to go and half of the players have sent out their mail-art. I hope everyone is having fun with this one!

anwyn 07/24/2008 #

mine are all ready and addressed and just awaiting postage!

wackystuff 07/29/2008 #

Only 3 folks didn't make our deadline. I've heard from one and contacted the other two. Everyone should be getting lots of weird mail. Mail-artists are the coolest people!
