Description:

Crocheters need markers a bit different than knitters. Markers need to stay in stitches, since there is no needle to run them through, and we also need hook size tenders, since most of us work on more than one project at a time, and may need the same hook for several. Some of us, alas, also lose track of what hook we are using!

These hooks should be handmade, and in some ways tailored to your partner. Don't just send five beads on a safety pin-these can be bought anywhere. Make them really special, a package that will make your partner say, "Oh, wow! I love these! when he/she opens them.

This will be monthly, with each swap a focussing an a dominant different color and hook. Although I'm specifying a color, you can get creative-the specified color should be the main color; you can add a little of others. For each of TWO partners, you will make four crocheter-specific markers, as well as two hook markers featuring the same color. This way, there will be a consistent color scheme as well, and each of us will learn to associate the same size hook by color with the stitch markers. All the markers must someway be attachable to the project.

Don't be stingy with your hearts! A swap with teh required items as described deserves a 5, even if it's a few days late, as long as your partner let you know in advance of the delay. So-so items may get a 3. Before you assign a 1, please message both myself and your partner.

Very special, personalized, or unique items, or a package with a little extra in it, should get the heart!! Don't be stingy! And please put some effort into your markers.

This month's theme is H hook with GREEN decor. As Chef Duff would say, "make it awesome."

I welcome comments on the hook sizes you'd like to see in the future. I know what my favorite hook sizes are (G, H, I, K) but some of you may prefer those little tiny OR really big hooks.

Newbies and internationals are more than welcome, and I'd love to see some of my bookmark partners as well. Ratings of 4.5 are preferred, but if you have a lower rating and want to join, please message me with your reasoning.

Again for this month, let's go with GREEN markers (FOUR), and H-hook tenders (TWO) for each of your TWO partners.

If you haven't received your swap within a week of the mail-by date, please let me know.

this sound interesting, but I don´t know what you mean... (I'm portuguese and I'm not familiar with this terms...) can you attach photos or send me some links where I can see what is required? thanks

By hook tender, you basically mean a tag that says the hook size. Correct?

This may not work for international, since I don't believe they use the "letter scale" for hooks nearly as much. It seems like all the non-US crochet sites use the mm number as for sizing instead.

Most of the hooks that are available internationally have somewhat both systems. At least in PR I find both systems and in Egypt too, though mostly metric. Also the hooks numbers/letters could vary from the company. But a tag where you can write the hook id yourself could be nice. Anyway, the beaded ones are so cute! I use them in tatting also. SO I'm signing to these one too! :-)

I found some nice alpha beads on ebay that are glass. :) I was so frustrated on what to do for the hook tender without using funky plastic beads!

I make stitch markers, but had never thought of the hook size tender. That's such a great idea! I often lay a project aside for a long time and completely forget what hook I was using. :D

I'm such an idiot... I made the green ones G and the purple one (next month) H. Now I've gotta fix that before I can send. sigh At least I could it now though!
