Description:

Some people call this a Scrap Vomit Quilt and others call it a Mini Charm Quilt. Whatever you want to call it, this is a swap for 2.5” squares. Here are the details:

  • You will be swapping 49 – 2.5” squares of material with 3 partners. This will give you enough squares to create three 7x7 square block (14 inches wide).
  • Since it is a scrap quilt there is not an expectation that the squares will be fussy cut.
  • Each 2.5” square should be a single material (please don’t sew scraps together to make a square).
  • Ideally you will send 49 different fabric squares however if you can’t PLEASE try to include as many different fabrics as possible.
  • Fabric should be quilting quality cotton material… remember only swap material that you would be happy to receive
  • Use a mix of patterns – there should be little to none solids included

We all understand that life gets in the way sometimes however it is expected that you will send your squares by the deadline. If you are unable to do this communication is key!!

My goal is to make 1 or 2 of these scrap quilts this year and so I plan to host this swap monthly. Here are some resources for you regarding Scrap 2.5” quilts:

As for ratings, If you received 49 quality fabric squares on time this would meet the swap and deserve a 5 regardless of whether you love every fabric pattern sent.

I am so glad you are hosting this swap. I love this swap and the other person (can't remember who it was) stopped doing it about a year ago. I am signing up to watch and will probably join.

Hooray JaMaJo!! I have been worried people will not but interested in participating. Let me know if there is anything I should change to the swap that you think would help snag more folks :) Thanks!

I'm thinking this would be a GREAT way to have pre-cut 2 1/2" squares to use for those wonderful half square triangles created with Thangles to create a super scrappy quilt! What a good idea! Just think of how many extra fabrics you'll have!!!
Yep, gotta join! I see a scrappy quilt in my future!!!

Oh no! I came today to sign up and I'm one day too late :(.

Let me know when you do the next!

I'm so happy to be in this swap- I can not wait to het to sewing, as I want to make a wall-hanging using 100 squares atleast. This surely will be nice and scrappy. :-)

In answer to your E mail I found the instructions very clear and easy to understand. What you received sounds very much like the requirements for SCRAPPY FABRIC VARIETY SWAP #2.
