Description:

Hello everyone! The holidays are almost upon us, and I thought an envelope Advent calendar swap would be a lot of fun! What you'll do is send one partner 24 numbered envelopes containing little goodies for them to open each day of December, leading up to Christmas Day. The goodies do not have to be holiday themed, but they do need to be nice things! You can include:

  • stickers
  • scrapbook papers
  • washi tape
  • ephemera
  • ribbons
  • candies
  • tea / hot cocoa / coffee
  • cards / notecards / writing paper
  • any small items you can think of!

Really you just want to send you partner items that will make them happy this holiday season!

As for the envelopes, they need to be numbered (very important!) and decorated in a holiday/winter theme. They can be any size or shape, and can even be a paper sack or small box -- as long as it's something your partner can open. And because we're putting together so many envelopes I do not expect each envelope to be handmade and embellished like crazy, but please create something nice to look at if you partner decides to display your advent calendar!

Here are some inspirations for this project:

There are other great ways to make this, which you can find by googling 'envelope advent calendar' or using pinterest. I really want you to be inspired and make this as creative as possible!

To sum up, you will send your partner: 24 numbered & holiday/winter themed envelopes containing 24 little goodies. If you want to give them instructions on display or send twine/ribbon & a way to hang your calendar, that is up to you.

Requirements: at least 10 type 3 swaps and a 4.9 rating with no recent 1's or 3's. Sign up deadline and send date are close because you can begin working on this project right away. You can message me if you have any questions, or leave comments below.

I hope everyone will use their imagination with this one and create something fun for their partner! Happy Advent making!

What a fun idea! :)

Could you send a couple of numbered envelopes in one larger envelope to save on postage?

tuesdaytelegrams 09/22/2013 #

@AliCrafter All envelopes will be sent in one package to one person. You send them all at one time, so they arrive before Dec 1st. Does that answer your question? Because otherwise I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Hi everyone! I'm so glad to see a great bunch of swappers have joined this swap. I've been putting mine together and it's been a lot of fun!

On a different note: I've had to ask a few of the swappers to drop because they didn't meet the required 10 type 3 swaps. So if you're going to join, please make sure you meet requirements, because I will be checking profiles before assigning partners! Thank you!

I had the same question as @alicrafter Just wanted clarification you don't mail each and every envelope separately. But I see its all 24 in one big envelope. One more question: why isn't it 25?

tuesdaytelegrams 11/ 3/2013 #

@Littleheartsx3 You mail all 24 envelopes in one package by November 20th. Each individual envelope will be sealed, and then it's up to your partner to exercise the restraint to not open them all at once, but on each day of December (corresponding to the number) leading up to Christmas. If you had to mail each envelope separately it would get pretty expensive! Plus, part of this swap is decorating the envelopes, so this way you don't have to address each one, but just put a number and maybe some kind of design on them. If it's still confusing feel free to message me!

It's 24 because it's supposed to be a little gift to open on each day leading up to Christmas Day. You can read more about advents here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advent_calendar
