Description:

How I spent my summer.

This swap is to make a zine dedicated to how you spent your summer. Text and visuals. It can be heavy on text or visuals or have the same amount of both. The text can be personal journal style entries, prose, poetry, song lyrics or whatever floats your boat. It can be done comic book style if you like. The visuals can be photo, illustration, collage….again, whatever makes your heart sing.

Size- use your best judgment, but it should be at least 8 pages including the front and back cover. Thoughtful work takes time, so let’s take the whole northern hemisphere summer between sign-up and send dates – (Memorial day to Labor Day in US terms.). BTW- you don’t have to use the whole summer. If you want to focus on something specific, (a wedding, vacation, weekend at the lake..whatever), and you get yours finished early – just send it!

Remember to keep your work original and generally copywrite free. I found a good definition of “zine at wikipedia. Here’s the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zine

This is my first zine swap - so if there is some detail I'm forgetting to mention, let me know.

This is an international swap:) No no-sends in the last 4 months. 4.8 or better rating. At least 5 completed snail mail swaps. This may be a labor intensive project, so if you think you won’t be able to follow through – don’t sign up. Got questions? Drop me an e-mail. Have a great summer:)

Hello, Just to let you know I edited the # of pages. I just watched a video on youtube where the guy makes an 8 page zine out of a single sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper. I have to say, the zines I traded in college were more of the "fold and staple copied paper in the middle to make a 5.5 x 8.5 book" type. Anywho...I changed the pages to a minimum of 8 incase you make the little folded kind.

I like that you have a specific theme for this zine swap (and it is a fun one). I've been looking at zines and longing to make one, but haven't known what to make one about. This sounds like a good place to start for me. Thanks for hosting!
