I finally made it to that printmaking class! One of the cool little tricks the teacher showed us was monotypes as backgrounds for our linoleum block prints. Monotypes are prints that can only be done once -- no pressure, just try again if you don't like the result. No special materials are needed, you can use crayons or watercolors if you don't want to buy ink. A cookie sheet can substitute for a plexiglass base, and no need for an ink roller with several of these. A spoon might come in handy for drier inks. Here are a couple low-stress tutorials: fun with crayons and a hot plate for the paper cutting inclined :) a really natural watercolor technique with nothing fancier than water, stones, and leaves monoprinting for preschoolers! drawing on top of rolled-out ink -- buy an ink roller for around $7 or less Let's have fun with one of these techniques, or come up with your own. If toddlers can do it, then so can we! One monotype sent to one partner -- (minimum size) ATC-sized to as large as you can make it :) OK to send naked as a postcard, or in an envelope, sender's choice. Great ratings apply, or PM me for a 1:1 swap. I will angel all my swaps, but this is too much fun to miss out on, right? |
