Description:

This swap is about squirrel cards. One card to one partner, written&stamped or look into profiles for individual preferences.

Store-bought only, could be greeting cards for any occasion, as long as a squirrel is somewhere on the card. A photo, drawing, painting, illustration, a monument, — whatever. It may be a Christmas card with a squirrel too.

I define squirrel as any member of Sciuridae family. It could be any color, have any amount of fur on the ears and any amount of stripes on its fur. So, tree squirrels, ground squirrels, flying squirrels, chipmunks and even marmots are good for this swap.

I ask everyone, especially newbies, to have a filled profile and no recent ones. Looking forward to send you those nice furry cards!

P.S. ...and there is a special hell for flakers, you know.

In your definition of "store bought", do you include Zazzle postcards?

Mierna 06/15/2013 #

lorettadog, I mean not handmade. No glue or adhesive tape :) Self-print on cardboard is fine, and Zaazle too I think, I never got such a card. Are they bad?

Mierna - I don't think so! I love them because you can get them on about any subject you can think of. They're slightly smaller than the kind you buy off the rack. My impression is that the people who don't like them are the more serious postcard collectors, who like to have identifying numbers, etc. When the "off-the-rack" cards are very limited, as is often the case when you don't live in a big city (which is my problem), Zazzle cards are a great help. For example, the only "traditional" postcard I have with a member of the Sciuridae family is a chipmunk. The kind of picture you generally see. But I have a GREAT Zazzle squirrel card - and I'm going to join the swap, because someone else deserves to see it! ;oP If I draw a partner who doesn't like Zazzle, well, it's going to be their loss. I really wish SB would have a definitive definition of the different types of postcards, so we didn't always have to keep asking hosts about their definition of store-bought. It means different things to different people! I suggested that, along with what I thought were pretty good examples, but it went nowhere. So, unless a host spells out "Zazzle is ok", I always ask.

I'm so glad I saw these comments. Since I live in a very small town, it is quite difficult to find/buy postcards in a local shop, so for me, Zazzle is a lifesaver. I completely agree with @lorettadog that it would be nice to have a clear and concise description as to exactly where Zazzle falls in terms of being store bought or not. I LOVE Zazzle postcards because their selection of postcards is so wide and you truly can find a postcard for any theme on Zazzle. Some people, though, just don't like Zazzle and they don't believe that Zazzle cards are as good in quality but actually I think Zazzle cards for the most part are sturdier and depending on the card itself could be a bit larger, or a bit smaller. Again, like @lorettadog said, if the swap description does not say outright that Zazzle cards are ok, I always ask the host because I wouldn't want to send one out, only to find out that zazzles are not accepted. It would be nice for Swap Bot to indicate in the glossary or anywhere if Zazzle is or is not considered storebought. Just my 2 cents that nobody asked for, lol.

Too bad swap-bot doesn't send me swap comments, so I see them only occasionally. OK, I'll add something about Zazzle to my swap template :)
