Description:

A swap for photo bugs! You will send 3-5 photos to each of 2 partners. You do NOT need to be in any of the photos, but the pictures should be of different areas of your life. This can include pets, friends, favorite hobbies, holiday shots, your house/apartment, your job, the area you live, your favorite season etc. This is international so just because you think your house (for example) is just like eveyone elses, someone across the world might be fascinated. Be as creative as you like. Postcards or handmade drawing/paintings are acceptable if you just don't have photographs. A short note to explain the pictures would be great too. This doesn't start until January so there is plenty of time to develop holiday photos or get copies.

this is a note for whoever gets me:

if all you can do is postcards, then that is ok, but instead of all postcards could you draw me what you think your live looks like.. or something like that. be creative.

photos are ideal, but again if that isnt possible, please dont make it all postcards, include something creative. thanks! :) lyndsie

coolwicca 11/23/2006 #

What a great idea, Cherryecho! Remember, this is primarily for photographs, but I don't want to exclude any interested person who just doesn't have access to a camera. So, be as creative as you can and most importantly have fun.

sparklebluefaery 12/ 1/2006 #

If you have digital photos and you print them on photo paper, would that be okay?

missnatalie 12/ 3/2006 #

What size photos? 4x6? 5x7? :o) I like photos.

coolwicca 12/ 5/2006 #

To Sparlebluefaery and Craftynatty. Thank you for the two great questions. Digital on paper are great. I am an old 35mm buff myself, but many people only have digital. Any size photo is fine. I don't expect people to send anything over 5x7 because of the cost. Please not tiny (smaller than 31/2 x 5) because some of us Bats lol won't be able to really see the photos. I am excited because we have a good assortment of people from a variety of place. I say the more the better. I am looking around for more people. Lets see if we can get a bunch more partners and really make this as international as possible.

coolwicca 12/ 5/2006 #

I am pretty new at this myself, so I have a question for the participants, Have you had any good experiences with the group leader handing out the partners instead of the computer? I would like to give everybody as varied an experience as possible. So, for example, I don't want someone in Ohio to get a partner in Illinois. What do you think? Thanks for your feedback.

DreamHope 12/ 7/2006 #

Janet: I would prefer to stick with whatever Swap-Bot gives us. That way, the feedback system works (I see there's some new swappers on this, so I'm sure they want to get some "5" on their profiles), and everyone knows what to do.

Also, I think that even someone living next door to me might have very different pictures then mine, so it doesn't matter to me who I get. Mind you, I'm in Canada, and I've yet to even get a fellow Canadian, never mind someone in my own province or city, so I'm definitely biased.

cherryecho 12/13/2006 #

i am not sure if it is the same in the states or not, but here in canada it is really different from province to province, so getting someone in canada wouldnt really bother me that much. although it is nice to get packages from far far far away.

sweetxjosephine 12/16/2006 #

i really like this idea ... is it ok if i add more than 5 photos/make a little book out of it??

user4899 12/18/2006 #

I also have a photo swap going on thats more of a "scavenger hunt" if you shudderbugs... people who like photographs, want even more pictures and fun, w/ a bit of a creative challenge twist.

I thought I'd also join this one and hope some of you might take a look at mine... Its Photo Scavenger Hunt.

coolwicca 12/18/2006 #

Of course its great if you want to add more photos. I wanted to make this cheap enough (since its international) for anyone to join, but if you don't mind the postage-please feel free.

Also decided to let the computer do the partner choosing. As Dreamhope said, it lets the feedback system work.

Nerk76 Welcome and your swap sounds like fun too.

sugarbooger 12/26/2006 #

hopefully whoever gets me can somehow do black&white pics with a border.

sorry to sound picky, it's just that i have a wall of those kinds and it'd be nice to post them.

but it's ok if they're not as such :)

mnsqb 12/28/2006 #

If I have photos from the recent past that show some of my hobbies, friends, neighborhood, etc. could I use them?

user5420 12/28/2006 #

this is such a cool idea!

I'm in :D

user5486 01/ 1/2007 #

This is such a fun idea...My friend Sage told me about this site. I was excited to see all the different swaps. I belong to a bunch of Yahoo swapping groups.

coolwicca 01/ 2/2007 #

mnsqb: This is exactly what I had in mind. Anything that shows something of your life, interests, lifestyle. If there is something about where you live that you find interesting, unique, strange...whatever. A short note explaining why you sent that particular photo would make it all SO much more fun and interesting for your partners.

user5510 01/ 3/2007 #

when do we know who we get as partners?>

Neropatti 01/ 3/2007 #

Kim: the fift. =P

coolwicca 01/ 3/2007 #

Everyone, and especially the NEWBIES: The last day to join or drop this swap is Jan. 5th. By the 6th you will see a new sentence in the swap box. It will say "see your partners". When you click on this sentence, a window will open with the names and addresses of your partners. Please send your photos by Jan. 12. I ask everyone to be patient. We have people signed up from all over the world. Some of this places can take a VERY long time (over a month) to deliver. BUT, if you haven't heard from a partner after 3 weeks past the deadline date, please e-mail me directly. Obviously I can't MAKE anyone send, but I will do all I can to make sure you have a good swap. Also, On the other side, It is very IMPORTANT that you send your items. People, me included get very excited waiting. It is so hard just to be patient and then when nothing comes at all...It is a terrible feeling. Don't do it to anyone. If we all do our part then no one will be left out and this will be a Great Swap. Thanks everyone! Now I have to go feed my cats before they mutiny.

user5224 01/ 5/2007 #

I joined at the last minute. Hope that's ok. I wouldn't mind getting B/W photo's either. It doesn't matter though. Can't wait to send out my pictures!

LISTEN up Please. As of today, the 20th ten people are listed as no sends. To those outside the US we had a long weekend with no mail for a holiday, so please be patient if it takes awhile to get your photos. On the other hand, it is now a week since the end of the swap, so please send your stuff ASAP. It doesn't have to be perfect. If you are late please e-mail your partners and tell them so. If for any reason you are not going to send at all, Please e-mail me. I am looking forward to my own partners' pictures. Claudia, I have no idea how long my package will take to reach you in Germany, but I hope you feel it was worth the wait when you get it. Natalie, Yours should be arriving soon.

simindy 01/21/2007 #

Hello katrina and westie,

I finally got my photos from snapbot this weekend, and the photos are in the mail. Hopefully you get them this week. I'm sorry they are late, I probably shouldn't have gotten the photos developed with snapfish, I should have gone with a local place. Now I know. Again, sorry they are late! Hope the photos are worth the wait.

One poor swapper from outside the US got 1 for no show less than 2 weeks (way less) after the deadline date for the swap. Come on guys, and this includes the holiday weekend! Please be patient here. We have a lot of international participants and it can take more than a month for those packages to travel the world. You can change those to a do not wish to rate until you receive your package. Even for in country, these packages can take a little longer, so Please, PLEASE be patient.

user5420 01/25/2007 #

didnt recieve any yet, but being patient :D

coolwicca 01/26/2007 #

Please read this. It seems that a few people are either being terribly immpatient or just like to mess other people's ratings up. Today the 26th is just two weeks since the deadline of the swap. This is the EARLIEST that anyone should be giving 1s. Why you may ask. For three good weekends. First, a long non-postal delivery was included in these dates. Second, Photographs may need a package delivery instead of a letter. We all know that can take longer. Third, Many, many of our participants are international and mail from some of these countries can take more than a month. If you have already rated people as 1's PLEASE go back and click on 'do not wish to rate at this time'. Lets try to be nice, OK! and not use these ratings as a hammer. I am also contacting eveyone who still has a no send to see if there is a problem. Lets make this fun. And thanks to ananyah for being so patient.

coolwicca 01/26/2007 #

I typed weekends when I meant reasons. Typing too fast.

missnatalie 01/29/2007 #

It's 18 days past the send date, and I haven't received from either of my partners. One is still marked "not sent". fandrea, it says you sent but I haven't received it yet.

Also, only one of my partners has mentioned receiving. bekka, did the pictures get to you? It was a rather large envelope. :)

coolwicca 01/30/2007 #

Natalie, thanks for writing. Your Partner, Heidi wrote that she has been in the hospital and would be sending her photos on Feb. 2. Very late, I know, but you should get them. Your other partner is in Hungary. I would give hers at least a month before leaving a rating. I know it is hard to be so patient, but once again, these are often going to be small packages and can take a long time to arrive. Please let me know how it works out. Your organizer.

Tainowoman 02/ 6/2007 #

I'm a bit disapponted as well. Althought I received some beautiful photos from one of my partners, I am still pending those from Lizz, and it says they were sent already.

Is Lizz outside of the US?

sugarbooger 02/ 9/2007 #

knitty did you get my photos yet? my other partner did.
