Description:

With her permission, I am taking over this swap for Faun00 for the time being. Image borrowed from Faun00's swap series

For this swap, photocopy a page from your favorite book (or you may use an actual book page if you like). Black out all but a few words creating a poem from the words. You may add embellishments, or draw/doodle on the page in between the blackouts, but it IS NOT NECESSARY. :)

ADDED 13 FEBRUARY - Use of books printed in languages other than English is acceptable. Please write an English translation upon the page on which you are writing the finished poem. (Does that make sense? Oh, I am unsure...)

THIS GETS MISSED A LOT: Your info will NOT be on the back of this page... You will put at least your final poetry words, name, date, and location (i.e. city, state, country, as it's always nice to see where your swaps came from) on a separate paper to be put into your partner's journal on a facing page.

You will have 2 partners and will send a different photocopied blackout poem to each of them (you can always send more if you feel inspired). Pages should be no larger than composition book size (apprx 7.5 inches x 9.5 inches). You can decorate it if you wish, but it is not a requirement.

Use your imagination and have fun! Send something you would like to receive.

We will NOT actually mail journals around, but we will decorate our own journals to paste our received poetry into. Please use a book that is at least composition notebook size, as that should be about the right size for any of the swaps you get.

This is a repeating swap, and I will host every three weeks or so as long as there is interest.

A rating of 4.8 or above please to participate in this swap. I will not tolerate flakers and late sends. Late senders in my swaps are banned from the next series swap of any of my swaps unless they contact me and I deem the reason to be excusable. Will angel if necessary. Responsible newbies with well-filled profiles are welcome.

Hello, I've got a (maybe silly) question - is it required to black out all the unnecessary words, or can I just highlight the words I need? If I really black out the rest, there won't be any space for drawing...

Hi RabbitHeart. As the style itself actually requires blacking out to some extent, I am wanting to say that yes, the unnecessary words need to be blacked out. However, I know that this style is open to interpretation and that I myself do not always blackout the entirety of the "unused" page. I believe that your artistic intuition will guide you and however you decide to create the piece, it will fall within the guidelines...Perhaps the image I've reposted here from the previous swaps will help answer your question more easily than my words are... Let me know if you need further clarification.

@latentsmile thank you! The picture helped, I think I know now how to go about it :)

Hello. You said "send a different photocopied blackout poem to each of them." I intend to do two separate blackout poems, but can I send both of them to each partner? Thanks! :D

latentsmile 02/ 8/2013 #

Hi @tiger1i1y

Yes, you can always send more than the minimum! I always try to photocopy both poems and send each partner one original and one copy. Thanks for asking! And thanks for joining! <3

Oh dear, I sent this BEFORE the deadline and marked it sent via the webpage on my phone, but it doesn't appear to have shown up on here :(

No problem @ixykix I won't ban you from the next installment. I understand it happens sometimes.
