Mini-Zine + More - Postal edition

Send each of your partners:

  • a mini-zine, with a postal theme
  • an extra element/item that relates to the subject of your zine

Mini-Zine
The subject of your mini-zine can be anything, so long as it is postal related - eg airmail labels from around the world, collecting postage stamps, boring postcards, crafting with postal ephemera, creating faux postage, mail art you have sent/received, your life measured in penpals, tips on letter-writing, etc etc.

The zine can be newly created for this swap or it can be one you have swapped before but it must be made by you.

The zine should be a minimum of 8 pages folded down from A4/letter-size paper, as per standard mini-zine (click here for templates & folding guide). However, you are welcome to use a different binding, add more/larger pages, as you prefer, so long as the minimum is met. Maximum page size is approx. 4" x 6" (A6/quarter-size).

Zines may be handwritten/hand-drawn, typed, word processed, photoshopped, cut-and-pasted Γ’β‚¬β€œ whatever style suits you. For those new to zines, it is usual to create one master-copy then photocopy or print multiples of the original.

What more?
The additional item should be relevant to an aspect of your mini-zine's content, eg

  • a useful item for crafting a project mentioned in the zine (eg a selection of used postage stamps for upcycling, or some blank cardstock stamped with postcard backing to be decorated, or an eraser to make a hand-carved stamp etc)

OR

  • an example of an item featured in the zine (eg a vintage postcard from your collection, or an envelope decorated for your partner's use, or a postal-themed rubber stamp etc)

*There is no $ value specified for extra item, but it should be something that your partner can use practically or appreciate aesthetically and/or for its relevance to your zine - **no junk or throwaway rubbish allowed! .*

As always:
Late swaps & low ratings will all be checked before assigning partners, so please contact me if you think there might be a problem.

Will join in December FOR SURE!

I REALLY want to join - but I'm worried that my size of zine won't fit the description. I folded a compuiter size paper (8 1/2 x 11) and when I do the folds and cut it comes to measure 4" X 2 3/4 ". Is that okay?

Very eager to get mine organised. Have already created and swapped a mini-zine of the postal persuasion, but will I create something new? Ooh, I wonder...! ;)

TangleCrafts 12/12/2012 #

@kerrydwynn - the size you've quoted meets the minimum requirement & doesn't exceed the maximum, so yes, it's fine :)

@papercaper - looking forward to seeing what you decide!

Yay finished mine, but won't press join till a day before partners are assigned just in case my baby decides to say hello early :)

TangleCrafts 12/18/2012 #

Hope you get to join the swap, but more importantly hope all goes well with baby. :) (And if timing doesn't work out, feel free to contact me for a same-theme private swap at a later date!)

thank you :D and if she decides to come out early a one on one would be wonderful, Γ’β„’Β₯
