Letรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs get ready to SMASH! For this swap you will create a homemade Halloween SMASH journal for your partner. Why so early? For one thing I love Halloween and would love to celebrate year round. Second, now is an excellent time to get journals completed so they are ready to record all the fun things of October!

No need to be scared! Although this is technically a homemade journal I do not see it as being as time consuming as other journals as you are basically providing the bare bones for your partner to fill in later.

Size: 6 X 8 min. You can go larger if you want. One easy way to create a page is to fold a 12 x 12 sheet of paper in half and trim the top. The resulting page width be close enough to 6 inches to count. (So no docking your partner if the pages turn out to be 5 5/8th inches.)

Binding: Binding is senders choice. However if you bind your pages with ring clips use at least two. Whichever method you use, try to allow room for your partner to add bulk!

Pages: 10 pages. In this instance a page is front and back, so 20 sides in total. Pages should be a Halloween/fall theme. Lightly decorate the pages, an embellishment in the corner for example, leaving plenty of room for your partner to add their own stuff.

Covers: Add a front and back cover of semi-sturdy material. A decorated cereal box works fine. The back cover does not have to be decorated, although if you use cereal box make sure to cover up the printed side. Decorate the front cover with a nice Halloween theme.

Ta-Da youรขโ‚ฌโ„ขre done! So to summarize: 10 pages (20 sides) with some light embellishment plus a cover and back. Do-able right? Journal swaps of any kind attract flakers so I will still check profiles just in case, however since this is a group swap I expect everyone to be responsible.

This is not profile specific so you can start working now. I donรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt like long swap times because it allows a greater chance of people to falling off the bus

Journal swaps of all kinds unfortunately tend to attract flakers. I will do everything in my power to keep this swap safe.

Therefore:

At least 30 type 3 swaps completed and rated. Although you are awesome many newbies unfortunately are not.

If you have more than 4 threes or a one you must pm me and explain your situation to join.

No 3รขโ‚ฌโ„ขs due to not meeting swap requirements!

I will be checking all profiles carefully before assigning partners

Image is from google search and is for inspiration only. Your journal can be bound by your method of choice

8/3 edited swap so that binding method is sender's choice

I hope this is not a stupid question, but these can be more than 10 sheets/20 pages, right? Cause as I go through my papers to make this, I'm finding way more than 10 I want to include. It's looking like my book may have closer to 30 sheets/60 pages. Is that a problem?

More is not a problem lol. Your book can have more pages or be larger if you like. I have started working on my book and it will be 10 pages 6 X 8.5 although I will try to include extras. Anyone who wants to make a larger book or add more pages, is more than welcome just keep in mind that you might receive something back that has 10 pages and is 6 x 8 inches.

Thanks!

I've completed my journal so I will describe it here to help anyone who might like more direction:

I took 10 12 x 12 of scrapbooking sheets (fall and Halloween themed) and folded them in half and then trimmed the top so that I now had 10 pages, front and back that were 6 x 8 1/2 inches (I went a tad taller). I then cut a front and back cover out of cereal boxes and decorated both sides with more papers and stickers. I punched holes into everything and bound it with ribbon and fibers. As a last step I went back to each page and added a few stickers on the edges, leaving most of the sheet for my partner to fill in.

Well, I was watching in hopes I could join, but it looks like so far I may not have the funds to send out on time, so I hate that I have to miss out on this one. Bummer!!
