basically a profile-themed present for them?

You might consider altering your swap. Your swap doesn't list what type of stuff to send, or a dollar value to stay within (say 5-10 dollars), etc. It's pretty vague.

Also: will you be checking participants for just swappers with good ratings or is everyone invited including people with 10+ negative ratings? Hosting is a bit more involved than this and the more detailed you are in your requirements; the more successful your swaps will be. Saying keep to the rules when you have none listed isn't really saying much.

Just some tips.

Firstly I am an original member hosting for about 10years ,so I know what is involved. My swaps are always successful too.I check everyone and no one passes with poor ratings. As for the cost and what type of stuff to send IT IS A MYSTERY SWAP
[who knows what you will get] this swap is about sending something you would like to receive.and receiving a surprise . As for me having no rules, Swapbot has the rules, no flaking and no late sends Why I said to check your partners profile is to find out what they are like , [its no good sending a ball of yarn to someone who doesn't use it] I want be altering the swap , I always keep them short and to the point

I think the point @VivaLaDiane was trying to get across is that not ALL people will send something they would like to receive. So if there was a dollar value it would make the people have a better chance at getting something that they like & the same quality that they send out.

Since you are an original member you are familiar with the posts in the public forums where people join these types of swaps with no dollar value & barely there descriptions & they send out good things get crap. But there response is 'Well, I would have liked to receive it.' - Yep, it's in the eye of the beholder but dollar value would help immensely.

She wasn't trying to be rude - she was giving friendly advice.

Swapping I feel is a matter of trust, sure in my 10 years I have been let down at times ,but the good has out weighed that by far.Bad swappers never seem to last long any way, When I send out a swap I get a great thrill out of making up a delightful pack to bless someone with, regardless of what comes back to me , but I do realise that not everyone thinks like that. I really do hate Dollar valued swaps they come across as : I will only send what I/ll get back" thanks for your cmments
