Welcome to I ♥heart♥ Mail Art - May!

Who doesn't love to receive a lovely decorated envie in their mailbox? This swap is for all those who love to display their art on the outside of envelopes for the world to see and enjoy!

So go grab your ink, paint, markers, pens, pencils, charcoal, stickers, glitter, glue, fabric, tape & imagination and get busy! Decorate that envie!

Each swap participant is to decorate one envelope for one partner.

Please put your best effort into this --- send something you would LOVE LOVE LOVE to receive!

It's always nice to check out your partner's profile for ideas on likes/dislikes – but it is sender's choice.

Minimum envelope size is standard greeting-card sized envelope (approx. 6.5 inches x 4.5 inches (16.5cm x 11.5cm), however, anything larger is even better!

To make this swap extra-special, include a small goodie tucked inside the envie ....maybe a postcard, some stationary, your favorite poem or recipe....anything you think your partner will enjoy. You can also check out your partner's profile for a small special item you know they will love --- it's entirely up to the sender.

You will have two weeks to create and send your mail art envie.

The key is to be creative.....let your imagination fly & your inner artist shine!

Please include a note inside the envie indicating the swap name, and your Swap-Bot user ID.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

● Must be rated a 4.95 or better

● Open to newbies (unrated swappers) with a well filled-out profile --- this is your opportunity to get some great ratings (and beautiful artwork)!

● No 1s or recent / unexplained 3s

I am truly hopeful everyone who joins will honour their swap and not flake on their partner. However, I will angel any and all flakers, once you PM me that you have rated them a 1.

If you have any questions, please PM me.

HAPPY SWAPPING!!!!

Love to decorate and receive envies! :)

Are we mailing the envie in another envelope, so that our partner can use it if they want?

Justene 04/20/2012 #

Hello @whytewillow The envie you decorate is the one you post....only one envelope involved. :) If you choose to tuck another envie inside the one you decorate, that is entirely up to you...sounds like a gr8 idea to me! The more decorated envies we have in the postal system, the better! :)

Awesome...will do my best to keep the postal system looking at beautiful and cool envies..lol Thanks for the info.

Hi All! Newbies can Google "mail art" in Google images and see some spectacular examples for inspiration of all sorts. Happy Swapping!!:-)

Do swap members upload images, show a photo of the mail art they received?
I did search the internet for images of the decorated envelopes, the mail art that is beautiful & popular. Takes time to make the art on those envelopes. Got to get back to work on mine.

My Clermont, FL post office now knows me as the "Lady who does the Mail Art."
Was at the post office on Friday mailing out a stack of packages & mail art. The postal employees at the counter, waiting on customers, took turns staring at my mail art. They say they know me as the one customer who does the artwork on envelopes.
One postal employee (really nice guy,) confessed they will hold my mail art at the post office so that all the other employees can see it before it is mailed out.
I don't mind as they tell me how it brightens their day.
So, due to all the handling, the trip thru the US & International postal systems, I have to cover my envelopes with clear tape, &/or clear thin contact paper. Otherwise the paper & embellishments might tear, I want the mail art to arrive in one piece so the receiver can enjoy it. And now my family wants me to photograph the mail art so I have a visual record of the mail art I sent out.

Do we have a theme for this month?

Justene 05/ 9/2012 #

I am also known a the artist at the post office. They get a kick out of some of my comics and characters I paint. They laugh about some and often tell me your such an artist. Myself i see room for lots of improvement. How long does it take to get a partner? I am just asking because i have mine done and its ready to go.

armadillogal 05/15/2012 #

I mailed mine today. What I found out is he had me open the clear sleeve I put it in so he could cancel the stamps...then we sealed it back up and he added a 20 cent sticker for non-machinable...can't wait to see how it travels to Canada....I used a clear plastic page protector and cut it down to make the sleeve.

Justene 05/15/2012 #

@armadillogal You're my partner, so I can't wait to see it!!!! :)

MegaShark 05/27/2012 #

I am sending mine out tuesday. I am so sorry to my partner but I am having car troubles again and can't get to the post office until then. I will make it extra special to compensate for this :)

MegaShark 05/31/2012 #

My car is still in the shop :( I haven't forgotten and have made some awesome goodies to include in the envie :)
