Description:

Time again for a paper bag art journal! I was really happy to see so many of you eager for another journal swap after the last one we did.

This time around, each page of our journals will be dedicated to one color, going through the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. That's 6 colors for 6 pages. It's up to you what colors to use on the front and back covers. We will be constructing our journals in the same way as we did last swap using this tutorial by @sacredyoli .

When complete, your journal should look something like this:

The theme of your artwork is sender's choice; you do however need to incorporate cut and paste collage techniques into the design of your pages. You can also mix it up by adding paint, pen/pencil drawings and other media as well. You will have a month once partners are assigned to complete your journal (and included surprise) - be creative and have fun!

The Rules:

  • Each of the inner pages need to be mostly monochromatic, using only one color (and tints/shades of that color) per page. Black and/or white accents are OK.
  • Use paper lunch bags -- the ones that open flat on the bottom and measure 5â…›" x 3â…›" x 10⅝". You may choose to use different colored bags than the standard kraft paper brown.
  • You may choose to bind your journal differently than what the tutorial suggests (hole punching), as long as your method still produces pocket pages. Machine or hand-stitching are great alternative methods for binding here.
  • Because of the way these journals are constructed, the pages also double as pockets (in this case there will be 4 pockets). You must include at least one surprise for your partner inside one of the pockets of your journal. The surprise is sender's choice, but it is always nice to take some hints from your partner's profile. Your surprise can be handmade (an ATC, skinny, altered tag, photograph, etc) or store bought (stickers, magnet, crafty supplies, etc). You can include more than one surprise if you wish, but you must include at least one.
